| Written by a practising headteacher, Making School
Work is full of practical examples which underpin successful
school leadership. It provides hundreds of examples of tried
and tested ideas which have been proven to work in a range of
schools. |
| This book is not an academic review of school
improvement research. Nor is it a theoretically-based summary
of school leadership models. What it sets out to do is give
a pragmatic account of systems and approaches that deliver.
If nothing else, by presenting a series of in-depth and practical
solutions to the key challenges facing modern school leaders
Making School Work gives all those who lead or aspire to lead
a school a chance to review their own experiences in the context
of someone else’s. |

| "This is not another book about the theory
of leadership. It is rooted in the practicality of leading schools,
balancing the long-term and the short-term, emphasising the
primacy of teaching and learning, and showing how leaders prioritise
their tasks in order to be most effective. I strongly recommend
it." |
| - John Dunford, General Secretary, Association
of School and College Leaders |

| "All school leaders, present and future,
will find something of value in Andy Buck’s Making School
Work. A clear, concise and realistic approach to working towards
the holy grail of school improvement – consistently effective
practice." |
| - D. Boyle, Principal, Dunraven School, Streatham,
